Andreas Steiner is an economist by education and has in-depth knowledge of the industry thanks to his long career in the healthcare sector, enabling him to bring both specific expertise and strategic vision. He was in charge of the Finance and Administration division at Wellcome Austria Pharma from 1989 to 1995 and was subsequently responsible for the set up and expansion of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Austria and Eastern Europe as Director of Finance & Administration (Chief Financial Officer) from 1995 to 2006. As a member of the Executive Team he was managing a fast growing and complex business set-up with associated financial and organizational challenges. In 2007, he moved from the pharmaceutical industry to “Tirol Kliniken” (Hospital Association of Tyrol), where, as a member of the Board of Directors, he experienced the Austrian healthcare system from another perspective, acquiring in-depth knowledge about managing a public hospital organization and through the close cooperation with the Medical University Innsbruck. Andreas Steiner joined AOP Orphan as a Chief Financial Officer in 2013 and was elected as a Chief Executive Officer in April 2018.
